Nike unveils third kit for 2014-2015 season

“This half-and-half appearance is a traditional football design, but we added a new twist,” said Martin Lotti, Creative Director of Nike Football. “We wanted to utilize vibrant color so the kits look brighter at night against the grass and beneath floodlights. Under a dark sky, the kits will look electric, as if powered by batteries, and will provide a flash of color on the pitch.”

Juventus-Malmo preview

image

Finally Juventus is back to the Champions League, after last year’s crazy elimination under the snow of Istanbul against a very lucky Galatasaray, and after a sad Europa League semifinal against Benfica. Juventus wants to show its value to the whole world, and is ready to fight with all its heart to win again that magic cup, after that 1996 victory with Del Piero and Conte on the field. Tonight the first match of group A is against the Swedish club Malmo: Juve should not forget what happened last year with F.C. Copenhagen, and try not to underestimate the opponent. Allegri will use the 3-5-2 module: Chiellini will start from the beginning together with Caceres and Bonucci. In the middle Vidal, Pirlo and Pereyra (the first two injured, the last one disqualified) will not be available, so Asamoah, Pogba, Lichtsteiner, Evra and Marchisio will have to play a very good game. The black-n-white forwards will be Tevez and Llorente, with a possible substitution during the match for Coman and Morata.

Allegri: we will show our talent to Europe

Allegri has released a brief interview to Sky Sport Italia about today’s match against Malmo, here’s the translation made by our staff:

We know that the Champions League is a fascinating competition, tonight it will be an important match. We have to start in the right way, we need everyone’s contribute and support; we don’t have to be restless. UCL is a short tournament, and it doesn’t matter who you will face, they always want the victory. We know that 5 European clubs can afford more than us, but we have signed important players that can solve any kind of situation. It doesn’t matter if in defense we will play with three or four players, we just have to play in the right way.

Chiellini: not an easy win against Malmo

Chiellini’s words at the press conference before the first match of Champions League against Malmo (from Juventus.com):

There’s a lot of enthusiasm around the place, from myself, within the team and the city of Turin. I think we need to maintain that throughout this adventure. Rather than focusing on having to prove ourselves or erasing the disappointment of last season, we need to try and surprise people and achieve something big. We’re not expecting an easy win by any stretch of the imagination. We know that it’s going to be a tough game. We still bear the scars of last year and two years ago, from the results against Copenhagen and Nordsjælland. I think Malmo will be quite similar to those teams, given the likeness in the brand of football they play and their geographical proximity. In terms of Malmo’s players, I’m most familiar with Rosenberg because he’s played for his country, so I know all about him. They also have a lad who used to play in Italy with Palermo and then Novara, Mehmeti. He played here for a couple of years, I think. Aside from that, we’re studying their other players. We can win the match, but only if we show real desire, strong focus and great respect for our opponents.
